John Borbonus
Memorial Golf Tournament
Welcome to the home of the Annual John Borbonus Memorial Golf Tournament, an event dedicated to celebrating the life and legacy of Army Specialist John G. Borbonus. John was a Boise native, a proud paratrooper, and a true American hero who made the ultimate sacrifice in Baghdad, Iraq, on April 12, 2007, at just 19 years old. His extraordinary bravery saved countless lives and earned him the Silver Star, one of the nation’s highest military honors.
This tournament is more than just a game; it’s a tribute to John’s courage, selflessness, and love for his community. Through this annual event, we come together to remember his sacrifice while raising funds for veterans and young adults in need. Join us as we honor his memory and continue his legacy of service and generosity.
Proceeds from this years event benefit two meaningful causes:
Idaho Veterans Assistance League (IVAL) – Enhancing the lives of veterans at Idaho State Veterans Homes by funding essential items, activities, and programs that promote dignity, independence, and well-being.
Boise State Men’s & Women’s Golf Teams – Providing resources for student-athletes, including training, equipment, travel, and facility improvements, to help them compete at the highest level.
Together, we’re honoring our veterans and empowering the next generation of athletes. Thank you for your generosity!
